The Party of tomorrow must be one that champions those things that unite us Americans rather than those which divide us. Even among Christian groups, there are great divides which stifle political discussion. There are many even among the Christian faiths who don’t even consider Catholics to be Christians. They send missionaries to predominantly Catholic nations in the hope of converting them to “Christianity” in the same spirit which drove them to send said missionaries to third world countries to convert pagan civilizations. They won’t vote for a Catholic politician because they are skeptical of his allegiances to the Pope and the Vatican all the while ignoring their allegiances to their own religions leaders. Such an attitude is about picking a particular brand of Christianity rather than advocating moral guidance from political leaders. The Republican Party simply cannot exist if it is seen so closely connected to such endeavors. The Republican Party cannot center itself upon such divisive rhetoric and action. It must be a party accepting of all religions and faiths. It must unite Americans around the idea that this is a nation accepting of all religions and attaches no higher level of importance to any one belief structure.
