THESE ARE THE GREAT MINDS WHO DIDNT FIND IT IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO EVEN VOTE IN A ROLL CALL TO AX ACORN FUNDING

Burr (R-NC)
Byrd (D-WV)
Coburn (R-OK)
Graham (R-SC)
Gregg (R-NH)
Hutchison (R-TX)
McCain (R-AZ)
Mikulski (D-MD)
Vitter (R-LA)

Thought I should start with the bad/sad news.  Graham and McCain – what a shocker!!  We know you were at a townhall with your homeboy Graham earlier today, but unless you chose to take a long tour of the Graham estate, perhaps you should have got back for this.

Today the Senate voted to cease all funding of the controversial organization ACORN that was made famous by our President on the campaign trail.  If you have been breathing, you have seen the tapes by now that have recently been released where employees of the organization participated in everything from prostitution to tax fraud.

While this appeared to be an inevidible development, it is encouraging to see that the Senate took action now rather than waiting for the scandal to go away or until the video tomorrow causes even more outrage.  While it doesn’t speak volumes for our federal government that they were funding such an organization, at least they have now acted to begin to right the wrongs committed by providing tax dollars to these degenerates.  While they didn’t technically “cut funds,” they did at least ensure that future funds weren’t provided to the organization through pending appropriations bills.

Fox News had the following tonight…

The amendment, offered by Nebraska Republican Sen. Mike Johanns, passed in a vote of 83 to 7 and prohibits the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now from receiving funds from the current Transportation and Housing and Urban Development appropriations bill. It marks the third time this year Republicans tried to block the organization from federal funding.

While the move is the proper one.  How sad is it that this is the third time Republicans have had to try to cut off funding from these radicals?  What a shame it is that it took three video tapes of the organization’s actions before the leaders of this nation could come to an agreement that this organization was undeserving.  The move comes on the eve of the release of the fourth video tomorrow, which some who have seen it characterize as the most revealing of the four.

Who voted against this move?

  • Dick Durbin (D-IL)
  • Roland Burris (D-IL)
  • Robert Casey (D-PA)
  • Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY)
  • Patrick Leahy (D-VT)
  • Bernie Sanders (I-VT)
  • Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI)
  • WAY TO GO GUYS – CANT WAIT TIL YOUR RE-ELECTION CAMPAIGNS!!

Biggovernment.composted a letter sent by Congressman Boehner to President Obama urging him to support this move by the Senate.

Boehner: ACORN Funding Must Be ‘Terminated Immediately’

    by Publius

    From GOP Leader:

Today House Republicans, led by Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH), are sending the following letter to President Obama asking him to use his authority to end all funding to and break all government ties with ACORN:

    boehner

    Dear Mr. President:

We write to you today in the wake of new reports of potentially criminal activity involving associates of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) to respectfully request that you use your authority to publicly disclose and terminate all federal funding to ACORN and its affiliates.  It is evident that ACORN is incapable of using federal funds in a manner that is consistent with the law.  Immediate action is necessary to ensure that no additional tax dollars are directed to ACORN.  Simply put, ACORN should not receive another penny of American taxpayers’ money.

Congressional pressure, coupled with the impact of recent media reports, prompted the U.S. Census Bureau on September 11 to end its partnership with ACORN.  We support this decision by the Census Bureau, and believe it is vital that all other federal agencies with ties to ACORN follow the Census Bureau’s example by severing all ties to ACORN and its affiliates, whether those ties consist of partnerships or the awarding of federal funds, including federal funds distributed through state and local governments from federal block grants.

This is a matter of common sense and respect for taxpayer dollars.  Last year, millions of Americans were outraged to learn their tax dollars were being used to subsidize an organization linked to multiple instances of voter registration fraud and other illicit activity.  An analysis of federal data by the Office of the Republican Leader determined that ACORN has received more than $53 million in direct funding from the federal government since 1994, and has likely received substantially more indirectly through states and localities that receive federal block grants.

The Census Bureau has made the commendable decision to sever ties with ACORN, and it is now critical that all remaining federal entities with ties to ACORN do the same.  We ask that you use your authority to ensure that all federal funding of ACORN is publicly disclosed and terminated immediately.  To facilitate this effort, the Republican staff of the Oversight Committee has compiled a complete list of the corporations that form the ACORN Council, and we would be pleased to share it with you and members of your administration.

We thank you for your attention to this request.

Congressman Boehner is pushing for an investigation into the affairs of the scandalous group.  Expect to hear a great deal on that front in the days to follow.

They also just released the newest ACORN exposure video.

Way to go guys.  The mainstream media could stand to learn a great deal from you.
