Face the Nation
White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel immediately jumped into a discussion of the administration’s policy in Afghanistan and addressed the “delay” in troop deployment decisions by saying that the “review” continues. He also touched upon the dangerous issue of how the administration will treat the election issue in Afghanistan and how they will react to the decision to have or not to have a “run-off election.”
He goes on to say that the troop deployment was simply one piece of the “Afghan Puzzle.” He then went on to blame the Bush administration for needing five meetings and weeks of “review” saying that for eight years it was mismanaged and left without direction.
Senator John Cornyn (R TX) said deliberation eventually turns into the possibility of “emboldening our enemies and destabilizing our allies.” He said that Iran, missile defense, Afghanistan, and Pakistan have begun to paint the narrative that the administration lacks resolve.
Idiot question of the week – Posed by Bob Scheifer substitute to Senator John Cornyn - Polls show that almost 74% of Americans want “something” to pass on healthcare. How do you feel about being in the 20% with your Party?
Are you kidding me? Something? Could your poll be more vague? Could you be more of a moron? Could you have at least given them options to pick from “anything”, “everything”, “something”, or “nothing.” How bout simply “yes” or “no” to healthcare reform?
Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace
Three Senators debated the key issues of the healthcare debate. Senator John Thune (R-Oklahoma ) Senator Kent Conrad (D- North Dakota), and Senator Arlen Specter (D – Pennsylvania)
This Week with George Stephonapoulos
Ignoring the fact that just seeing his face and hearing his voice makes me want to punch holes in walls, the wonderful White House Advisor David Axelrod got my Sunday morning talk show programming day off to a great start with his defense of the President’s softy mentality addressed on the cover of the National Journal Magazine which read “Is He Tough Enough?”
Meet the Press with David Gregory
Chris Dodd (D – CT, Member of Health Committee) reiterated his position that the public option is absolutely necessary and makes the “most sense” if you want to inject competition into the healthcare industry. He intimated that the President will emerge in support of the public option as well.
Senator Jon Kyl (R AZ) discussed the partisan nature of the healthcare legislation and debate and laughs at Democrats and their inner struggles and grievances with offering concessions to win Olympia Snowe’s support. Senator Kyl also adamantly opposed the idea that some Republicans would also support a “Trigger” provision for the public option to kick in at a later date.
The two also do their civil / political duty and chastised the Wall Street bonuses that stole headlines this week. I don’t know why they continue to discuss this issue – especially when they are more often than not companies who had nothing to do with the bailout packages, and in the majority of the other cases, they are companies who have already paid this money back.
The piece ends with a question posed to Dodd regarding his re-election efforts and his plunging poll number in Connecticut.

Every channel and every program has been the same debate for the last twelve weeks. I hope you DVR because it isnt even worth missing a church sermon to listen to this stuff every sunday morning
[...] morning I was watching the weekly political talk shows as I do every weekend, and a guest host sitting in for Bob Scheifer, John Dickerson, said something [...]
Maybe you should find a church to attend on Sunday Mornings rather than spending your time in front of the television and the computer
I will not even justify that comment with a response to its merits. My only comment would be to invest in TIVO or find a church with multiple services.
