ACORN at it Again: The War Against the Popular Rule Rages On

October 21, 2009
By

hannah

Today at the National Press Club, James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles released the sixth video exposing corruption and misconduct at an ACORN affiliate.  This time the culprit was the Philadelphia office where the organization had alleged that O’Keefe and Giles were turned away.  The video released today at the Press Club had the audio of the ACORN employees removed for legal reasons, but O’Keefe narrates the film which shows they were anything but turned away.

The efforts of these two individuals is nothing short of Pulitzer-worthy.  I say that not as a “token conservative” giddy with a Left-wing organization being exposed for what it truly is, but because they saw a problem and they made every effort shed light on it for the world to see.  You may say that this is the objective of every journalist, and in a perfect world you would be accurate, but this is simply not the world we live in.

As Fox News continues to be marginalized by the White House and the Popular Rule in the interest of promoting state-run media as well other more favorable outlets, a great disservice is being done to the institution that is the Press.  Our Founding Fathers respected this institution enough to include the RIGHT that protects it in the same Amendment as religion. They fully understood the importance of a free press and its ability to prevent tyranny from ever coming to our shores.

I am not saying that the work of Giles and O’Keefe should be thought of as transcendent or even patriotic, but I am absolutely stating that they should be commended for their efforts in every way imaginable.  If their work inspired one person to engage in similar behavior to expose corruption, fraud, or mismanagement of government resources – at either end of the political or ideological spectrum – then they have done this country and the institution of the press a great service and we owe them our thanks.

Thought-provoking take on this growing epidemic of ACORN’s corruption and the fringe media’s efforts to ignore or marginalize the efforts of conservatives to expose that corruption. Well done.

Small correction, though: this is the sixth, not the fifth, ACORN sting video that James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles have produced. In order, the offices were in Baltimore, Washington DC, NYC, San Bernardino, San Diego, and today, Philadelphia.

Again conservatives will run with this story as if it has national importance. Fox will report it and no one else will care. I didnt see break aways from regularly scheduled programming today, so my sense is that no one else cares

    • T. CHRISTOPHER on October 21, 2009 at 2:48 pm

Isn’t that why it is important for Fox News to run it? BC no one else will??

      • 1980 on October 21, 2009 at 10:56 pm

No one else did. I think that may be more accurate if we are in the business of retractions and corrections.

I cannot wait to see the evening news on ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN tonight. I wonder if Gibson will miss this time as well. Such a shame that these two are not being sued for their actions. They do deserve a thank you.
