AP CHICAGO reported yesterday that The Hockey Mom will sit down with Oprah Winfrey for an interview on Monday, November 16th to discuss the release of her “memoirs”  Going Rogue: An American Life.  Palin’s much-anticipated book was Nunmber 4 on Amazon.com’s best-seller list yesterday, but had previously held the number one spot for some time since the day that “presales” of the book became available.  The book will be officially released on the day after the interview – so yes, all you wonderful people who already bought this book will have your copies first thing that morning.  I for one will be camping out with a crowd of close friends all night to make sure I am the first to get a copy.  I can’t even type that with a straight face.

This is quite a power play for Oprah to make as she openly campaigned for President Obama breaking her long established track record of staying out of politics.  I see this as a win-win for both women.  Oprah will take credit for helping her book go number one (again) – as all books she pubs on her show so – and Palin will get the free press of the O Show and all of her viewers.

Come to think of it though, this may actually be an even bigger W for Oprah depending on how she treats Palin as a guest.  Remember, Oprah lost a large portion of her audience as a result of her political endorsement.  This may help to bring them back.  I cannot say that I will watch, but I will undoubtedly post a video here the day after with the “highlights” if either of them can generate one.  Let’s just call a duck a duck here.  The only thing that would make watching that interview anymore painful would be if Joy Behar was doing the play by play with a Madden Telestrator.

Part of why this is such a “big story” is the fact that during the presidential campaign, it was reported on Drudge that Winfrey had “banned” Palin from appearing on the show – which led the Oprah team to release this statement.

NewsDay on Palin Ban

“The item in today’s Drudge Report is categorically untrue [Drudge broke a story, which suggested Palin had been barred from the program]. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over.” — Oprah Winfrey, September 5, 2008

I can’t wait!!

For the record… I will not be camping out to buy this book. That was a bad joke started a while ago that I was simply referencing. No need for an email or a comment about when and where. I plan to sleep in that morning and wait for all the “rave reviews” watching Oprah.
