Obama to Sit Out Climate Change Summit
The President will not attend the Global Climate Change Summit in Copenhagen!
Reports from the White House are stating that the President will not attend the summit on global climate change – formerly Global Warming – because he simply failed to do his homework. The summit has effectively been downgraded to a non “heads of state” summit because the United States Senate has failed to move forward on a “cap and trade” bill. The international community knows that the Treaty would be a dead letter without US participation and the move by the Senate – or the lack of a move – is a major problem for the treaty that aimed to replace the expiring Kyoto Treaty.
An administration official told Fox News that ”It’s not likely to turn into a head of state meeting given the current legislative trajectory in the U.S. vis-a-vis energy policy.”
With the President staying state-side, Todd Stern, the president’s top climate change negotiator, will attend the Copenhagen conference for the administration. Other top officials “may join Stern if more progress is achieved in the coming weeks,” an official said.
I have to say well done to the United States Senate on this one. Whether it was because healthcare has consumed the time of our senators or simply that they are too busy spending hard working Americans taxpayers dollars to move on cap and trade, I am still extremely pleased that they had a hand in – at least for now – slowing the progress of this international treaty.

All that this means is he will have to wait a few months for his big moment where he signs away our freedom to save a carbon footprint
Sad but true. Still a modest victory.
