Clips From the Sunday Circuit
I told you I expected to see a lot of Senators Graham, Lieberman, and Kerry this weekend on the Sunday morning shows touting their plan for cap-and-trade, but while I was correct that two of the three made appearances, the tragedy in Fort Hood may have stolen their air time for this week, but I am sure they will be back next week in full force. General George Casey appeared on Meet the Press and This Week to discuss the shooting at Fort Hood. Michael Steele (Chairman RNC) and Tim Kaine (Chairman DNC) discussed last week’s elections and Saturday’s moonlight passage of sweeping healthcare legislation. Joe Lieberman discussed Fort Hood and his opposition to the public option and Mike Pence calls House healthcare political suicide for Democrats.
This Week with George Stephanopoulos
Michael Steele (Chairman RNC) and Tim Kaine (Chairman DNC) discussing healthcare reform passed in the House late Saturday night and Tuesday’s elections. For as much as I like to take shots at Steele, he dominated Kaine. If I could like someone for one act alone, this would have done it. My advice to Steele would be to drag this dolt along with him everywhere he goes. The Globetrotters made a name for themselves with a similar move, maybe Kaine could be Steele’s Washington Generals.
Meet the Press with David Gregory
Mississippi Governor Haley Barber (Chairman of the Republican Governor’s Association) and Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell (Former DNC Chairman)
General Casey – said he supports more troops and expects the President to make a decision sooner than later.
Face the Nation with Bob Scheiffer
Bob Scheiffer began his day with Tweedle Dee, Lindsey Graham. They discussed the House healthcare bill passed Saturday evening and Graham said it was a “non-starter” in the Senate. Democratic Senator Jack Reed (RI) had a different point of view not surprisingly.
He also had Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Ed Rollins (Republican Political Consultant) on to discuss the results of Tuesday’s elections and the road ahead for 2010.
Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace
Republican Congressman Mike Pence discussed the House vote from Saturday evening and called the moonlight passage political suicide. I have to say that in a period of American politics where there are so few Republicans to generally like, I keep finding Mike Pence on the right side of most issues and I have to say that he is amongst my top choices at this point. He has been dead on throughout the healthcare debate and he was a champion of 1st Amendment rights when Fairness Doctrine rhetoric has resurfaced. He is certainly one to keep an eye on.
Joe Lieberman discussed his previously stated position that he would vote with Republicans to filibusterer any bill that possessed a public option. He reaffirmed this position and discussed the tragedy of the shootings at Fort Hood intimating that he too believes that this was an act of terrorism motivated by religious fundamentalism.
State of the Union with John King
There was only one resonating sound bite from this entire hour long program. Here is some Pelosi “praise” from David Gergen.

I agree with you that Pence is solid. He is yet to really make one of those McCain type bad decisions where he finds hisself on the wrong side of a major issue. I could see him on a ticket in 2012.
