Just over a week after she left the race for New York’s 23rd Congressional District seat and endorsed the Democrat Bill Owens, former “Republican” State Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava has relinquished her post as Assembly Minority Whip. The move is a surprise to no one as she effectively sealed her fate with the Republican Party when she endorsed a Democrat in a defacto run-off election with a Conservative Party candidate who had been endorsed by every reputable Republican save for Newt Gingrich. Scozzafava will serve out her term in the Assembly and then will surely be opposed by a legitimate Republican should she choose to run for re-election.
