Keara Bono Torkelson was one of the more than 40 individuals who were shot last week by the terrorist Malik Nadal Hasan when he opened fire at a soldier readiness facility at Fort Hood. In the video below she describes her thoughts and impressions when she first heard gunfire. She told reporters that she thought it was training even when she heard Hasan shouting out versions of Allahu Akbar. She said she didn’t realize that it wasn’t a training excercise until she noticed that people were bleeding. She then called 911. Torkelson was asked about her scheduled deployment to Iraq and whether she would still go, to which she responded, “I have a duty to perform if commanders want us to go then yeah.”
