In a move that the White House is characterizing as “according to plan” Communications Director Anita Dunn resigned yesterday. She is the much talked about White House representative that helped to pour gas on the burning fire that was the feud between the White House and Fox News. Reportedly, she was only supposed to serve in the role “through the end of the year” as she has carried the label of “interim” since taking the role. She was called into service by the Administration when Ellen Moran left the position to seek a spot as Chief of Staff for the Commerce Secretary. The move may help to bring an end to the White House’s turbulent relationship with Fox News and also helps to clear the path for her husband, Bob Bauer, who has been rumored to be a potential replacement for Greg Craig as White House Counsel. Bauer is President Obama’s personal lawyer and a former counsel to his campaign, as well as the top lawyer for the Democratic National Committee.
Deputy communications director, Dan Pfeiffer will replace Dunn at the end of November. Dunn will stay on with the White House as a “consultant and strategist.”

Out with the old and in with the new one.
