Obama Plans “Jobs” Summit

So if I am unemployed, do I get free admission to the “Jobs” Summit? Is it like a glorified job fair? The President announced Thursday that he will host a Jobs Summit in December where he will invite leaders from all aspects of the American economy to meet with the objective of brainstorming a plan for job recovery. The summit is obviously a reaction to unemployment figures that have reached record levels in recent weeks and have shown no signs of improving in the foreseeable future.
“We all know that there are limits to what government can and should do, even during such difficult times. But we have an obligation to consider every additional, responsible step that we can take to encourage and accelerate job creation in this country,” he said.
Nearly 16 million people are unemployed, and the economy shed a net total of 190,000 jobs in October, triggering the 10.2 percent unemployment rate. Microsoft announced last week that it is dropping 800 jobs.
Obama last week signed a $24 billion economic stimulus bill that will extend unemployment benefits for up to 20 additional weeks — an extension he said will help more than 1 million Americans.
Despite claiming credit for cutting middle class taxes and creating or saving more than 1 million jobs through the $787 billion stimulus plan signed in February, Obama said, more is needed to “encourage and accelerate job creation”
“The economic growth that we’ve seen has not yet led to the job growth that we desperately need,” Obama said.
“This is one of the great challenges that remains in our economy — a challenge that my administration is determined to meet,” he added.
I bet when Obama can’t get it up, he has an erection summit. This is what happens when you let a college prof run our great nation. He has never run anything in an executive capacity and it shows. I hope fair minded Americans remember this in 2010 an 2012.
I too am growing rather tired of summit after summit. I am reminded of an old saying “do you know what a camel is?” “it is what you get when you let a group try to design a horse.” P&R (last night). Jobs summit? Ha. How bout some tax incentives for hiring new employees or some tax cuts for small business owners? That’d be a great place to start.
Allen I couldn’t agree more. This man has had eight of these in just a year. What the hell comes from a jobs summit? Do they all just walk away saying “Glad I have a job”? Waste of time. Anyone but Obama 2012!!
