New York Governor David Patterson is now in the camp of those who disagree with the Attorney General Eric Holder’s decision to hold the 911 terror trials in New York City.  He joins former mayor Rudy Guiliani and the overwhelming of majority of New Yorkers in opposing the decision, but finds himself in opposition to the current mayor as well as the White House.  The second of those two should come as no surprise as President Obama has made it no secret that he hopes Patterson’s days are numbered as the Empire State governor.

“This is not a decision that I would have made,” Paterson said when asked about the upcoming federal trial. “Our country was attacked on its own soil on Sept. 11, 2001, and New York was very much the epicenter of that attack.”

“It’s very painful. We’re still having trouble getting over it,” he added. “We still haven’t been able to rebuild that site and having those terrorists tried so close to the attack is going to be an encumbrance on all of New Yorkers.”

In contrast, Paterson told WPIX/Channel 11 News the the Obama Administration’s decision to try the detainees in New York is a decision he supports.

“I do not understand why they decommissioned [the detainees] from serving or being tried on Guantanamo Bay but that’s a decision that the federal government made and our job is to help them,” Paterson told PIX News. “We will cooperate to the full extent that we can.”

What New Yorker in his right mind would want these trials there? These men don’t deserve American justice, they deserve an American rope and a gallows.

To call him a lameduck would be an understatement so I doubt anyone cares what he thinks of the matter but I do agree with him that this is a travesty. I saw a poll tonight that said he was trailing Cuomo – who isnt even in the race yet – by more than 60 points if the primary was held today. He may not like the decision but he will not be around to have to worry about it.

I saw that poll as well. I can’t say that I am too upset for the old Gov but I do like watching Dems destroy one another. Obama loved him when he came to office and now he can’t wait to get rid of him. Note to Dems.. don’t cross Bamy or you get dropped.

  3. [...] surprise to anyone with half a brain, but the five men “scheduled” to come to trial in Lower Manhattan for the attacks of September 11,  2001 will reportedly plead not guilty.  To make the matter [...]
