Today is the big day.  The long awaited release of Sarah Palin’s Going Rogue: An American Life is finally here.  I know what you’re thinking, I thought you were camping out all night to get the first copy.  I had thought about it, but I was assured by the book store that there would be copies for everyone so there was no need to hobo it all night in the cold just to score a copy hot off the press.

The obligatory book tour began yesterday with an appearance on Oprah.  Yes I watched it.  My DVR’d episodes of Ghost Whisper and Project Runway were accidentally deleted so what else was I going to do with that extra hour in my day?  For those of you who expected drama and suspense, I hope you steered clear of all the clips and the previews leading up to the big day, because just like an over-hyped Hollywood blockbuster, this thing had little to offer that wasn’t already revealed in the preview.  They talked about the book; they discussed the McCain camp’s attempts to “stifle” her;  they even dove in to the Katie Couric interview debacle; and throughout the whole interview Oprah was a more than gracious host – especially for a woman who sold her apolitical soul during the last election to endorse Barack Obama.   She even asked Palin if she (Oprah) should be “worried” –  referring to the rumors that Palin may get into the talk show business and be a threat to the Big O’s empire.  Palin of course avoided the question, as she did when asked about running for president in 2012.   I sincerely hope that one of those rumors proves to be more than just a rumor.  I bet you can figure out which one…  Yeah its not that one.  I’m pulling for the Palin Show rather than the Palin campaign, and that’s putting it nicely.  I actually think I would love like Palin if she were nothing more than a talk show host.  In fact, I think she would be great at it, and I would love to see her, or anyone for that matter, chip away at the Oprah media stronghold.  That in and of itself would make me like her even if I am reminded of what a cheap-trick sideshow she is politically every time she opens her mouth.  I could probably even learn to like her accent….maybe!

Today the tour continues.  Palin sits down for the first leg of a four part interview with Barbara Walters that will air on Good Morning America.  The next three segments will air on PBS, Univision, and Telemundo.  I actually have no idea where the other three will air.  Frankly I’m a little irritated by the very concept of a four part interview let alone one that involves more than one show.  That is just far too much work for far too little reward.

In case you missed the interview, here are a few clips from it and a few videos discussing Palin and her new book or you can see a few more clips here

Reasons for writing the book / Tina Fey and SNL / Decision to run for VP

In this clip she describes her decision to resign as Governor of Alaska.  Its a really great answer.  She plays the I knew everyone would call me a selfish quitter so there is no way I resigned because I am a selfish quitter card.  It goes over really well.

On her daughter’s baby-daddy Levi and his Thanksgiving Invitation

CBS and Bob Scheiffer – “she’s not ever going to run for anything and if she did I don’t think she would get too far.”

Why do you hate her so much? You acted like you wanted to read the Carrie Prejean book. Palin is more credible than she is. She may be our candidate in three years man. You can’t undo the things you have said. People will use this to discredit you when you oppose her opposition.

    • T. CHRISTOPHER on November 17, 2009 at 1:56 pm

First of all, I don’t “hate” Sarah Palin. I don’t even “hate” our president. I just happen to think Palin is the epitome of a token conservative who knows how to push the buttons of other token conservatives. I am glad she’s a Republican and I respect her passion as well as the passion of her followers. I simply fail to see the substance that warrants taking her very seriously as a leader of the Party or the conservative movement.

And to your second point… Have you seen Carrie Prejean? I’d buy that book just to have her face laying around on my coffee table. I never said I would actually read the thing.

As an attractive conservative yourself, I can’t believe you are so hard on Sarah. I looked at your profile page!! She is only thought stupid and incompetent because of her appearance. If she were unattractive and old no one would have had any problem with her as VP. She was run through the mud because she has a pretty smile and looks good on television. I think you should rethink your biases toward her. I’m sure you would not want someone to take you less seriously because of how you look.

    • T. CHRISTOPHER on November 17, 2009 at 2:08 pm

I appreciate the compliment and your insight since you are obviously close enough to Sarah Palin to be on a first name basis with her. I am not sure what “profile” you are referring to, but I do appreciate the compliment. I have to tell you though, I am pretty confident that I have bigger obstacles to establishing my “credibility” than my appearance, but I do appreciate your concern. As to why I may be less than a fan of “Sarah”, it certainly has nothing to do with her appearance. I think she is a modestly attractive woman, but I think that those who are enamored with her need to broaden their horizons a bit. My humble life has presented me with the great fortune to have met women much more attractive and much more intelligent than she and I think it does women everywhere a disservice, when anyone acts as if such a feat is newsworthy or grounds for political credential.

Kerri I do appreciate the compliment as well as the comment, but I can guarantee you that my tendency to get irritated by Sarah Palin has nothing to do with her beauty. You may be correct in assuming that others may have a problem with that, but again, I would encourage those close minded people to get out of the house a little more.

      • Kerri Alderman on November 17, 2009 at 2:19 pm

I have a few points to make and if this comes across as B$tchy I did not mean for it to because it is rare that a blogger actually comments back to those who write comments so I wanted to say thank you. I was reading some old articles and came back to see if anyone else commented and saw you did. BUT… I am confused by your response to me and “Manny”. You make light of Carrie Prejean’s attractiveness and say that you wouldn’t read it you would just look at it? How is that consistent with what you said about Sarah? Also, just because you have met attractive and intelligent women does not mean that they are wrapped in the same person of the level of Sarah Palin. I happen to think she is great and haven’t seen anyone who could rival her in politics in my lifetime. And last point. I feel comfortable calling her Sarah. We call Oprah Oprah don’t we?

        • T. CHRISTOPHER on November 17, 2009 at 2:33 pm

I’m sorry if my comment to Manny seemed inconsistent. Manny is a frequent comment(er) here, so it was in jest. Well partially in jest in that I may in fact buy that book to have it laying around. That being said, I don’t think anyone would argue that Carrie Prejean is in the same league as Sarah Palin in terms of seeking or needing credibility. She is a college student and a beauty queen who happened to get caught up in a scandal that made her extremely famous. But, like Sarah Palin, she was latched on to by the portion of the Republican Party that frankly irritates the hell out of me. They want to make stories such as hers national referendums on major issues, then they are shocked when the characters that they put up on pedestals fall from grace. I just think it is not the direction the party should be headed in. It looks too much like the strategies that liberals use when they want to capitalize on headline news stories turned political hot potatoes. Anyways, the short of it is this. Carrie Prejean is ridiculously attractive – I mean she was Miss California. She is 20 years Palin’s junior so the comparison there is apples and oranges and is hardly fair. One is or was a political candidate and the other was a beauty pageant contestant turned author. I think my inconsistency is what would be expected given the very different nature of the two people involved. Thank you again for coming back.

Oh and btw I saw your profile on Facebook. I followed a link from Positively Republican’s site that you posted there to bring me here. Also, I saw a picture on your About link as well. Is that a book cover on there? Not that I’d read it but I might just buy to let it sit on my coffee table to look at it. haha!

    • T. CHRISTOPHER on November 17, 2009 at 2:35 pm

Wow, Kerri is a great compliment giver and she’s witty. You definitely have to come back to visit. I just finished responding to your last comment when I opened this one. Yes that is a book cover, but it is still in the works. I am glad to hear that you will buy it and “look at it” – I guess I deserved that one. Thanks again for the comments. I am glad to see that Facebook brought someone to the site.

  4. Taylor on November 17, 2009 at 2:44 pm

I want to know who these smart and hot women are that you are talking about. I have known you for a long time “T Christopher” and I always thought your type was blonde with big boobs and brains were optional. Am I wrong?

    • T. CHRISTOPHER on November 17, 2009 at 2:53 pm

Taylor I hate you. Go away. But thank you for angering every girl I ever dated with one comment. Much appreciated.

  5. Kerri Alderman on November 17, 2009 at 2:56 pm

Taylor why dont you settle the argument for us? Were any of them as smart and as attractive as Sarah Palin?

    • T. CHRISTOPHER on November 17, 2009 at 2:59 pm

I love how I have let my political website get hijacked over the course of two hours and turned into Facebook. Nice. And don’t answer that Taylor. Btw I really have no idea who Taylor is. I just want that on the record here.

  6. Taylor on November 17, 2009 at 3:06 pm

He knows me dont let him fool you. Thats why he didn’t delete my comment. How else would I know his type? I don’t think I can settle your argument though. He claims that there is at least one girl that would fit the description, but I never met her, so who knows he could have made her up. T Christopher is pretty tricky like that.

  7. marinemanny on November 17, 2009 at 3:30 pm

Sorry for what I stirred up for you here man. I hope your ex gfs dont follow your blog and I hope for Taylor’s sake if you do know him those girls don’t know where he lives.

  8. xgb on November 17, 2009 at 7:00 pm

I hate to detract from the prying into T Christopher’s dating life, but I completely agree with him in regards to this book. I have grown so tired of listening to commentary on its release that I believe I may have lost all affection that I once had for Gov. Palin. The more I hear her selling this book and the more I hear her fabricated and polled excuses for her failures as a VP candidate the more I want her to go away as well. I enjoyed the back and forth above as well as the original post. It is nice to find a conservative who isn’t blindly in love with this woman. I was once blind and have now seen the light.

    • T. CHRISTOPHER on November 18, 2009 at 2:31 pm

I appreciate you bringing us back to reality on the comments here. I am not sure how it got so far off track yesterday. I am glad to hear that you too are a conservative not drinking the Palin Kool-Aid. I don’t have animus toward her, I am just frustrated with the mindless machine that drives her and people like her. I am glad to hear that I am not alone on the Right.
