Okay so you’ve all seen the movie Wedding Crashers and a few of you may have even played one of those characters a time or two at a friend or a cousin’s wedding, but how many people can say that they crashed a State Dinner at the White House?  I want to see that movie.  One couple – Tarek and Michaele Salahi can now say that they have pulled it off.  It is unclear how the Secret Service missed the two but as you can see in the video below, they are even announced when they walk in just as the other 338 INVITED guests were.  The pictures are the best part of this story.  Upon returning home after the event, the couple posted pictures on their Facebook account.  It appears that they were quite the hit at the big event.  Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson would be oh so proud.  You can see them cozied up with Vice President Biden, Katie Couric, Rahm Emanuel, and Robin Roberts.  Investigators are reportedly looking into whether or not the couple violated any laws with their actions.  At this time they have not been charged.  To give the story a little more buzz for the holiday season, the couple is reportedly in the running to appear on the newest installment of Bravo’s “The Real Housewives” – this time featuring women in Washington D.C.  I think we may have a frontrunner now.

I make light of this story, but I am shocked that two people could get this close to the president under false pretenses.  Red flags and flashing lights have to be going off in the minds of people close to the President this morning as they begin to reevaluate how the evening could have went so tragically wrong if these two were political or religious terrorists rather than uppity socialites.

What did the Secret Service have to say about the security breach?  Let’s just say someone might be in trouble around there…

NY Times: Edwin M. Donovan, a spokesman for the Secret Service, said Wednesday night that “initial findings identified a Secret Service checkpoint which did not follow proper procedures,” allowing the couple to gain access to the festivities, even though their names were not on the invitation list.

“It is important to note that these individuals went through magnetometers and other levels of security, as did all guests attending the dinner,” Mr. Donovan said in an e-mail message.

He declined to offer details, including what kind of procedures were not followed or whether the couple had been interviewed. He said the investigation was continuing.“The bottom line is that they should not have gotten in,” he said.

Mr. Donovan also said he was unaware of any other examples of this kind of party-crashing at the White House. “I’m not aware of any other incidents like this,” Mr. Donovan said.
