Abortion Restricting Amendment Shot Down: Collins and Snowe Side with the Left

The amendment to the Senate health care plan aimed at stopping federal money from funding abortion related services, offered by Senator Ben Nelson, was shot down today.  I would love to report that it was purely a party-line vote, but unfortunately, two Republicans sided with the Left and voted against the amendment.  Maine Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins continued their

move to left of center and voted with the Dems and two Independents to strike down the proposed language which would have ensured that existing federal prohibitions were supported within the language of the bill.

AP Fifty Democrats, two independents and Republicans Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine voted against the restrictions. Thirty-eight Republicans and seven Democrats voted for the tougher rules. Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.Va., didn’t vote.

    How about just dropping Snowe and Collins now? Do you even see the need to write a little R before their name and state anymore?
