Time Magazine’s “Person” of the Year has been awarded to Chairman of the Federal Reserve Ben Bernanke. The magazine said “his creative leadership helped ensure that 2009 was a period of weak recovery rather than catastrophic depression.” Awesome! ”Weak recovery” thats something for kids to shoot for.
The accolade caps off a hectic year for the Fed chairman, who has at times served as the emergency room doctor trying to mend the problems stemming from the worldwide economic crisis.
In its article, Time said that “the decisions he has made, and those he has yet to make, will shape the path of our prosperity, the direction of our politics and our relationships to the world.”
The award comes on a day that Bernanke and the Federal Open Market Committee is ending its last two-day meeting for 2009, where the central bank is expected to hold rates steady.
Later this month, the U.S. Senate will vote to confirm Bernanke to another four-year term. Originally appointed to the position by then President George W. Bush, Bernanke was reappointed by President Barack Obama over the summer.

So they give an award to a man who was at the wheel when this mess began, appointed by the President that they hate, and now they think he deserves an honor for what he hasnt done bc it could actually be worse if we didnt have him? Sound stupid to anyone else?
I think your comment says it all. I am at a loss on this choice, but this has been quite the awards season hasn’t it? Winners all around.
