Say what you want about them getting hacked with the ease of drunken rednecks stealing cheap cable. So what if it only took $26 and a Iraqi MacGyver to hack the US military. Predator drones still may be the coolest thing that ever happened to the US military – and nerdy little video games geeks with dreams of turning their addictions into legitimate professions. Remote controlled planes that drop guided missiles? I don’t even think I could come up with something that cool if I tried. Check out this clip of the drones in action.
In fairness, the drones weren’t “hacked” – as in they weren’t dropping bombs on Saudi 711′s. Iraqi’s with tinker sets just figured out how to tap into the communications signal allowing them to watch the drones as they moved into action. Still a major security risk and a potentially dangerous threat, but at no time were the drones out of control of the US military.
