Former Volunteer State Congressman, Harold Ford, is apparently milling over the idea of running for the New York Senate seat currently held by Kirsten Gillibrand according to the New York Times.  Ford who moved to New York three years ago is reportedly being courted by prominent NY Democrats but he is yet to disclose his intentions publicly.

Mr. Ford, 39, who moved to New York three years ago, has told friends that he will decide whether to run in the next 45 days. The discussions between Mr. Ford and top Democratic donors reflect the dissatisfaction of some prominent party members with Ms. Gillibrand, who has yet to win over key constituencies, especially in New York City.

About a dozen high-profile Democrats have expressed interest in backing a candidacy by Mr. Ford, including the financier Steven Rattner, who, along with his wife, Maureen White, has been among the country’s most prolific Democratic fund-raisers.

In New York, Mr. Ford took a job as vice chairman of Merrill Lynch, where he cultivated close ties to many of the Wall Street executives who are now encouraging him to run. A telegenic politician, he has also maintained a high profile through NBC and MSNBC, which feature him as a regular political commentator.

New Yorkers are unusually welcoming to political newcomers, having elected Hillary Rodham Clinton to the Senate just two years after she moved from Arkansas and Robert F. Kennedy, a Massachusetts native, in 1964.

This looks pretty clinical for your right wing agenda? No comment?

So I know you wont openly admit where you’re from but I saw on Facebook you saying something about Tennessee and New York implying that you were from one of them. So what’s your real take on this guy? I hate to agree with Magada but that was pretty bla.

Ha. Tennessee and New York are certainly my two favorite states. Throw in Ohio and you’d complete the list. As to Congressman Ford, I think he is a charismatic, articulate, politician who deserves an equal level of respect as that paid to clown shoes. He fled from Tennessee because his liberal tendencies would have kept him landlocked and cut off from the national scene. He moved to New York in what he called a professional decision – I have no problem with that decision, but if he chooses to reemerge and join the political party once more he will surely be atop my enemies list. That being said, he will be a formidable opponent – especially in New York.
