Clips From the Sunday Circuit: February 21, 2010

February 21, 2010
By

Today’s spin around the Sunday Circuit was one for the record books in terms of absolute boredom and complete wastes of time.  I was actually looking forward to my weekly exercise in futility this Sunday as I thought a few guests and a few issues might actually produce some entertaining content.  Boy was I wrong.  Even a rare appearance from Colin Powell, a Governor’s Conference in DC, CPAC, and the upcoming health care reform summit failed to make these programs even remotely worth the time.  That said, I still compiled a group of clips for your “enjoyment.”  I pray your Monday brings you coffee and an abundance of patience.  Did I mention governors were in DC so that’s who dominated the circuit?  I know, just what you wanted… a bunch of politically conflicted “executives” playing the if I were running the show card…  call it a warning…

THIS WEEK With (whatever idiot has an open Sunday morning)

Aaaaaarrnoold Schwarzenegger (R-CA) and Ed Rendell (D-PA) discussed a host of issues from health care reform to the turning tide of R v. D.  Arnold once again reminded me that I’d love to have the opportunity once in my life to have a “conservative” Republican emerge at a Party Convention or other national event, give a speech that shook the room, and then disappeared into the apolitical universe, because the Governator has been an utter disappointment of epoch proportions.  Remember when people wanted to amend the Constitution so this dude could run for President?

FOX NEWS SUNDAY

Fox made the fundamental mistake of giving airtime to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell this week.  Who said they aren’t “fair and balanced”?  Putting this dude in front of  camera is like loading the gun for the Left and thinking they won’t fire.  In fairness to the Senator from “My Old Kentucky Home” I will say that he did in fact have the best line from the entire news day.  He said in regards to the “stimulus bill”…. “Tiger Woods and John Edwards had a better year than the stimulus bill.”  Mitch will be laughing himself to sleep for months over that one.

MEET THE PRESS

The show began with the most miserably boring update from General David Petraeus.  I added the video, but may God have mercy on you if you are brave enough to watch it.  Greggory tries to make news with the “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” business, but the General doesn’t commit. Tim Pawlenty follows that bit of “greatness” with an interview that has to make anyone labeling him as the 2012 front-runner kiss a little uneasy that this was on tape.  In fairness, it wasn’t a total bomb taken in context, but three years from now-  taken out of context = nightmare.  The roundtable had promise because of the cast of characters, but the format and the worthless Left-wing host reduced it to ramblings.

FACE THE NATION

I am still trying to find the answer to the question of how this guy has a show – or has had a job for what seems like a millennium covering politics when he seems totally unawares of anything related to the topic; but I guess they didn’t really ask for my opinion did they?  Scheiffer did have Colin Powell in studio so it forced me to tune in.  After all my formerly budding hero turned Obama supporter should have produced a headline or two – he did not.  It looks like he’s playing that time will show the wisdom of my sell out angle on this one.
