Tweedle Dee John McCain “Misled” on Stimulus
I may have to officially rename the pairing of John McCain and Lindsey Graham as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb respectively, because the Arizona changeling is now playing the “I was duped” card in regards to last year’s bank bailout. It may take me some time to adjust around here, so I will simply say that an official name change for Senator McCain to Tweedle Dumb rather than Tweedle Dee is now under consideration. As of post time, I have not yet received a response from Senator McCain or Senator Graham with any objections to the name change, so the papers are being drafted.
But here it is folks… when all else fails and a full-out 180 appears an impossibility with Arizona Tea Partiers and JD Hayworth breathing down his neck, Senator John McCain has decided it is better to claim stupidity than to own up for his support for the massive financial industry bailout.
What is his position you ask? He says that he was assured by then-Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke that the money was to be used to sure up the sector of the economy that many believed to be the center of the economic downturn – the housing/mortgage market.
But McCain stopped short of calling the TARP a mistake.
“Something had to be done because the world’s financial system was on the verge of collapse,” he said. “Any economist, liberal or conservative, would agree with that. The action they took, I don’t agree with.”
A response from the Say Anything Blog...
It’s an excuse thrown out by someone who doesn’t want to take responsibility for something they did because it’s politically inconvenient to do so (McCain is facing a serious primary challenger from J.D. Hayworth). The Democrats voted for the war in Iraq. McCain voted for the bank bailouts. There are no excuses.
Michelle Malkin offered up this brilliant recap of the state of John McCain….
He blew it on TARP.
Blew it on the auto bailout.
Blew it on the mortgage entitlement bailout.
Blew it on the AIG bailout.
Blew it on amnesty.
Blew it on campaign finance.
Blew it on global warming.
In short: McCain blows.
How could anyone not love that woman?
The short of it is this. I don’t know if JD Hayworth is a longterm solution for the People of Arizona, but I know they deserve better than this. What man of integrity tries to pull this stunt? Does he really believe that the American people are this stupid? If the power of the newly reinvigorated conservative movement fails to retire this man that will never retire himself, what will come of McCain in the years to come? Will he move even further to the Left for the next six years? That whole “I want to be President” thing is now behind him, so what else is left to prevent him from a total Leftward swing? Wake up people of Arizona!!! McCain may have some pull because of time served, but seriously… do you really want what he can bring you?
Riehl shares my feelings that a McCain victory in Arizona will trigger the beginning of world class meltdown for the shapeshifter McCain….
If he wins, he will only detest the grassroots all the more for having had the nerve to oppose him. And it will likely show itself in his behavior in Congress, just as his grudge against Bush did after 2000.
It’s time for John McCain to retire and go home. It’s a pity that he evidently doesn’t have the sense and humility to realize it.

Just in case you are utterly clueless as to the Tweedle Dee / Dumb reference… If this applies to you…. maybe lay off the political stuff for a few days….

McCain was a RINO, is a RINO, and will always be a RINO. He’s been in the Senate since he first rode in on a dinosaur, and he didn’t see this for what it was? If it wasn’t so funny, I’d cry!
Ha. Yeah I am not sure how this whole “I didn’t see this one coming” thing meshes well with his experience and wisdom platform for re-election. Maybe he should have went with something more reflective.

Ha. Very nice.
On that note, is anyone else really looking forward to the new Alice in Wonderland movie?
It’s sad to see what the Washington Beltway does to a person. Among other things like destroying a person’s ability to apply common sense instead of political calculation, it evidently ruins one’s eyesight. McCain was unable to see what most of us saw at the time and what he failed to see as a result is that he was throwing away the presidency by supporting the TARP instead of defying and opposing it.
Defying it would have required a backbone. All the rogue / maverick talk doesn’t provide one no matter how hard one may try.
RINOs And Their Habitat – Endangered Now, Extinct Soon?…
The RINO (Republican In Name Only) is a large, Democrat-looking mammal that dates back to the Progressive era of about 100 years ago. In recent elections, RINOs have been relentlessly hunted to the point of being endangered. Through movements such as t…
