Marco Rubio: Continuing Resolutions are “No Way to Run a Government”

Marco Rubio issued a press release and a video today following his “no” vote on the Continuing Resolution just passed in the Senate.  The stop-gap measure will prevent a government shutdown set for Friday at midnight… and continue the trend of managing our national budget like a fraternity’s “social” account.

So now we keep the lights on, but we inch ever closer to a year in the rear-view without ever passing a legitimate BUDGET.  I can’t help but think people are beginning to see this nonsense as “business as usual” rather than the exception to the rule.  Boehner, McConnell… get it together guys.  What the hell was last November all about?

Shameful.

H/T Cubachi:

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio today released the following video statement after his vote against the latest short-term continuing budget resolution:

“Today’s vote, first of all, should remind us of how we got here. Why are we funding government in two or three week increments? And it’s because Democrats, when they ran the House, the Senate and the White House, didn’t pass a budget.

“But more importantly, this is a terrible way to run government. We are facing some serious issues in America today, particularly the fact that we are borrowing $4 billion a day to keep the lights on and particularly the fact that we owe $14 trillion and growing. It’s time to face those issues in a serious way. The time for waiting is over. The time for games has passed.”
