Anthony Weiner has just finished speaking at a press conference where he admitted taking the picture at the center of the Weinergate scandal and sending it to the young female in Seattle. He also admitted to having engaged in similar activities with at least six women over the course of the last few years – some before and some after his marriage to Clinton Aide Huma Abedin. He said he was embarrassed and is still embarrassed, but will not resign.
The Congressman’s hand was forced Monday by Andrew Breitbart of Big Government who ran the following
The following photograph, reminiscent of that posted by former Rep. Chris Lee (R-NY) on Craigslist earlier this year, was allegedly sent to the young woman on Friday, May 20, 2011 via a Yahoo! email address that she claims was an alternate alias for Rep. Weiner:
The website published a photo of a man’s shirtless torso supposedly sent May 20 from a Yahoo! email address to somebody described only as a “young woman.” The woman said that the email was an alternate email address for Weiner.
The website did not identify the recipient. It posted additional shirtless photos claiming they were associated with that account.
The entertainment website RadarOnline.com also reported that a middle-aged woman from Nevada was claiming to have 200 explicit messages from Weiner via a Facebook account. It is not clear whether the two sites were referring to the same woman.
Breitbart also claimed to be in possession of “X-Rated” photos of Congressman Weiner – who admitted at the press conference that the pictures did in fact exist.
Weiner says he does not believe he’s violated any House rule or any ethical code of conduct. He says he used no government resources to send these messages. He also says he did nothing to “try to cover it up.” - I guess what we’ve been watching for the last several days has been glossing over – not covering up.
I’ve got no independent confirmation, but pretty certain Former Congressman – Christopher Lee – is thinking – If only I’d used Twitter and Facebook; and not Craigslist. I guess that’s what he gets for going the “creepy route” – oh and being a Republican and not a Dem.
Don’t wanna play I told you so, but I’m pretty sure I nailed it after hearing this…
And then there’s also theory D. That’s the new and fresh one that today’s revelation has spawned. Maybe, just maybe, Weiner was really sending lewd photos to a woman; or women. Either way, he’s screwed. If it’s “women”, the first pic will certainly not be the last. Add that to the fact that unless the Congressman from New York is randomly sending around pictures of his junk upon Twitter following notification, I’d say there’s probably quite a trail that will tell one interesting tale.
Pats on the back welcome.
RS McCain links… Thanks. And points us in the direction of AOSHQ – who’s not-so-quietly gloating and asking whether we just hear “the truth” or something else??
Need a timeline – he’s got one…
