Palin in Iowa for Documentary Premier “The Undefeated”

June 28, 2011
By

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is set to make an appearance in Iowa Tuesday to take part in the premier of “The Undefeated” – a documentary said to clear the air and to change the perception of her premature departure from the governorship.  As is the case every time Gov Palin makes an appearance, throngs of reporters will no doubt follow the Republican starlet’s every move as she makes her way around a key early primary state.  While the timing of the visit is a result of the film premier and not of her own choosing, it does seem rather convenient that Gov Palin would arrive the day after Michele Bachmann made her candidacy official.

Is she coming to help pub the movie?  Is she coming to get a sense of the public’s reaction to it?  Is she merely opting for yet another chance to capture the always coveted spotlight?  Is she trying to kill the momentum Bachmann seems to be gaining in the Hawkeye state; and nationally?  Who knows?  It’s Sarah Palin.  Need I say more?

But all accounts say she’s trying to keep the visit as “low-key” as possible.  Who are they kidding?  That’s like Metallica saying they’re just going to play a quite little concert or the guys from Jackass saying they’re just going to have a little get-together with some drinks and some BBQ.  It’s gonna be a friggin circus and someone’s going to make some noise.

Too soon for the Jackass reference?

WATERLOO, IowaSarah Palin appears to be designing her impending visit to Iowa to be as low-key as possible.

The former Alaska governor is slated to arrive in the small Iowa town of Pella on Tuesday to attend the premiere of “The Undefeated” — a flattering documentary that highlights her accomplishments in office and bangs the drum for a potential insurgent campaign for the Republican presidential nomination. Though she is never lacking for attention, Palin’s trip figures to be scrutinized especially closely, since it will mark her first appearance this year in the nation’s first voting state.

Politico reported on Monday that Palin aides were reaching out to Iowa operatives and activists to set up meetings during her visit, citing Chuck Laudner, a former Iowa GOP executive director. But Laudner told RCP that he did not have a private meeting scheduled with Palin and that no one who works for the former governor had made contact with him.

I’d say the good money’s on circus.  Maybe sideshow if you want to play the easy bet.

One Response to Palin in Iowa for Documentary Premier “The Undefeated”

  1. [...] problem for Gov Palin is that no such groundswell has occurred (yet).  She launched the bus tour, premiered the movie, made the trip to Ames, and still no one’s begging her to run.  As Ace points out, fewer [...]
