"We're Nibbling at Romney's Heels"
Congressman Ron Paul posted another impressive result in New Hampshire Tuesday finishing second and gaining 23% of the vote. I’ve posted the video of his post-primary speech below and I’d encourage you to watch it – even if you are not a Ron Paul supporter. What you will see, hear, and feel when you watch that video is passion. Passion from the candidate and passion from his supporters. Ron Paul and I come from two very different worlds, ideologically speaking, but every ounce of me respects what he and his supporters are doing/accomplishing.
Unless I’m completely off base here, I don’t see how he can blaze a trail to ultimately win this nomination; but dismissing his campaign and the passionate base that is driving it would be ignoring a very powerful force carving out its place within the GOP. Because of that, I think the biggest dilemma facing the Party going forward is figuring out how to appeal to these supporters and keep them inspired, motivated, and excited about the eventual nominee – even if he’s not named Paul.
But I suppose those worries are problems for a later day; and to harp on them now would be somewhat disrespectful to the only candidate not named Romney to finish in the top three in our first two primary contests. So, here are a few highlights from his speech.
“I want to thank the Union Leader for not endorsing me.”
“I called Governor Romney… and congratulated him because he certainly had a clear-cut victory; but we’re nibbling at his heels.”
“We have had a victory for the cause of Liberty tonight.”
“There is no doubt that this whole effort that we’re involved in will not go unnoticed.”
“The intellectual revolution that is going on now to restore Liberty in this country is well on its way and there’s no way they’re going to stop the momentum that we have started.”
“I sort of chuckle when they describe you and me as being ‘dangerous.’”
“That’s one thing they are telling the truth because we are dangerous to the status quo in this country.”
