With gas prices continuing to rise and the cost of everything from bread to the peanut butter and jelly that complete the sandwich going up as a result of the climb, conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer examines President Obama’s “Oil Flimflam.” I posted an excerpt, but read the whole thing here…
So: Decreasing U.S. demand will lower oil prices, but increasing U.S. supply will not? This is ridiculous. Either both do or neither does. Does Obama read his own speeches?
Obama says of drilling: “That’s not a plan.” Of course it’s a plan. We import nearly half of our oil, thereby exporting enormous amounts of U.S. wealth. Almost 60 percent of our trade deficit — $332 billion out of $560 billion — is shipped overseas to buy crude.

I think the answer very clearly is that President Obama simply hopes his “followers” and those with impressionable palates for such things casually take his assertions for granted without further exploring the ridiculous hypocrisy and contradiction of his utterances. President Obama leads by telling and by assuming those that follow do so blindly without giving even a passing thought to why or how their brilliant leader settled on the ultimate destination. He is “the smartest guy in the room”, so he must be right. His analysis must be unimpeachable and his judgment must be sound – even when the evidence makes both conclusions ridiculous at best.
