The United States Men’s National Team is set to play World Cup Champion and world number one Spain in a friendly today in Foxborough, so needless to say; my attention for the day will not be given to politics. If you’re a soccer fan, be sure to tune in. Kickoff’s at 4:30 ET. And if you’re not, game of this magnitude is always a good place to start. There is nothing more exhilarating than getting the chance to cheer on the Red, White, and Blue…. And if not, here’s some politics you miserable fool…
Charles Krauthammer discussed Donald Trump, Mike Huckabee, and Newt Gingrich with Brett Baier on Fox News Monday night. After weighing in on the first two and their respective decisions not to take a run at the White House, the conservative columnist shifted his focus to Newt Gingrich who made headlines over the weekend for being critical of Paul Ryan’s budget proposal.
Cain/West 2012…? I could certainly think of far worse pairings. That’s the ticket Mr. Andrew Breitbart wants to see GOP send forth to unseat President Obama and blabbering Joe Biden. Speaking at a lecture at the Heritage Foundation, Breitbart said, “The only way to defeat political correctness and cultural marxism and multiculturalism is to aim straight at its head” – a line that will no doubt draw a reaction from the civility hypocrites on the Left.
GALLUP: Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee leads the field of possible GOP presidential candidates in “positive intensity” among Republicans nationwide with a score of +25 among Republicans who are familiar with him, followed by Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota with a score of +20. Huckabee is recognized by 87% of Republicans, compared with Bachmann’s 52%. A number of other possible Republican presidential candidates trail these two in Positive Intensity Scores, including Sarah Palin, who is the best known of the group.
Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels made an appearance on Meet the Press Sunday. He discussed a variety of issues and subjects, but most compelling was when the focus shifted to 2012, his future aspirations, and his take on “social issues” and conservative governance. I’ve posted the video below, but I thought these remarks were the most telling of the entire interview. Daniels has been catching some heat on the Right for saying the next president may have to call for a “truce on social issues.” Here’s his reaction to his critics.
This should be good news for all the Herman Cain enthusiasts out there. The former CEO of GodFather’s Pizza just announced that he has formed a Presidential Exploratory Committee. From his website. “The American Dream is under attack. In fact, a recent survey found 67% of the American People believe America is headed in the wrong direction. Sadly, this comes as no surprise to those of us who have watched an out-of-control federal government that spends recklessly, taxes too much and oversteps its Constitutional limits far too often.”
NY TIMES: In November 2009, I wrote an article entitled “10 Reasons That Sarah Palin Could Win the Republican Nomination.” The article wasn’t necessarily arguing that she was the favorite to take the nomination, but it did suggest she had a credible chance at it. In light of the developments of the last 13 months, it…
With the race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination now underway in earnest, jockeying for position among the potential candidates has begun; and with the new year drawing near, the short list appears to be growing into a rather long one. Among the many who are hinting at or flirting with a run at the White House is a man you likely have never heard of… until now… Herman Cain.
NATIONAL REVIEW: Who among us can contain their excitement? The GOP presidential-primary season has begun! By my count, there are 24 people who are beneficiaries of nontrivial presidential buzz: Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, John Thune, Tim Pawlenty, Mitch Daniels, Mike Pence, Rick Santorum, Haley Barbour, Mike Huckabee, Bobby Jindal, Paul Ryan, David Petraeus,…
“I dont know … (and) and we know that its not up to me. (Uh) If the American people were to be ready for someone who is willing to shake it up and willing to get back to time-tested truths and help lead our country towards a more prosperous and safe future; and (uh) if they happen to think that I was the one; if it were best for my family and for our country, of course I would give it a shot.”
